The race begins with a stunning crossing of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge connecting Staten Island to Brooklyn. 53,000 runners stream across the upper and lower decks.

Runners wind through diverse Brooklyn neighborhoods — Bay Ridge, Sunset Park, Park Slope, Bedford-Stuyvesant, and Williamsburg — with massive crowd support.

After crossing the Queensboro Bridge in silence (no spectators allowed), runners emerge onto First Avenue in Manhattan to a wall of sound. One of the great moments in running.
