About RuntimeRacing

RuntimeRacing is an independent running publication covering the sport as it actually gets run — the six World Marathon Majors, the trail and ultra circuit, and the strange, growing world of backyard racing.

What We Cover

Most running coverage stops at the finish line of six big-city marathons. We keep going. The Site maintains structured race pages for majors, marathons, trail ultras, and backyard events — each with course detail, past winners, course records, and edition history — alongside athlete profiles, a race calendar, and all-time records.

On top of that sits editorial: race recaps written the day results land, previews, history pieces, and analysis. Backyard ultras get first-class treatment here in a way they don’t elsewhere — see how the format works if the sport is new to you.

Where Our Data Comes From

Results come from official race timing partners and organizer result portals first. Where an official source is unavailable or incomplete, we use established secondary references — World Athletics, the Association of Road Racing Statisticians, DUV Ultramarathon Statistics, and race-specific archives — and we prefer the source closest to the timing mat.

Times, places, and records are transcribed as published. When two sources disagree, we follow the official one and note the discrepancy rather than quietly picking a number.

How We Write

Coverage is produced with a mix of human editing and automated research and drafting tooling built specifically for this Site. Every published article is reviewed before it goes live, and factual claims — winners, times, records, course details — are checked against the source data above. We think the honest thing is to tell you that rather than pretend a newsroom of twenty people works here.

What we will not do: invent quotes, fabricate results, or publish a race outcome we have not confirmed.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes, and running data is messier than it looks — split times get revised, disqualifications land days later, historical ultra results conflict across archives. If you spot an error, email bobby@runtimeracing.co with the page and the correct information. Corrections to results and records are made directly to the underlying data so every page that draws on it updates at once.

How We Make Money

RuntimeRacing is supported by advertising and by affiliate commissions on some gear links, including Amazon. Those relationships never determine what we cover or what we recommend, and gear recommendations are not paid placements. Full detail is in our privacy policy.

Who Runs It

RuntimeRacing is published by Robert Tolstyka, an independent operator, not a media group. It began as a way to get race data into one place that was actually usable during a race weekend, and grew into full coverage from there.
