Geoffrey Kipsang Kamworor is a Kenyan distance runner born on November 22, 1992, in Chepkorio. Few athletes of his era have matched his range: he is a two-time New York City Marathon champion, a three-time world half marathon champion, a two-time senior world cross country champion, and a former half marathon world record holder.
Kamworor announced himself by winning the world junior cross country title in 2011. On the track he ran 12:59.98 for 5000 meters and 26:52.65 for 10,000 meters, taking silver in the 10,000 meters at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing. He won world half marathon titles in 2014, 2016, and 2018, and senior world cross country titles in 2015 and 2017.
On the roads he won the New York City Marathon in 2017 and again in 2019. In September 2019 he ran 58:01 in Copenhagen to break the half marathon world record, a mark since surpassed.
Kamworor set his marathon best of 2:04:23 when finishing second at the 2023 London Marathon. In 2025 he won the Rotterdam Marathon in 2:04:33.
