Kilian Jornet Burgada is a Spanish trail runner, ski mountaineer, and mountaineer widely regarded as the greatest trail and ultramarathon runner of all time. Born in Sabadell, Catalonia, he grew up in a mountain hut at 2,000 meters in the Pyrenees, where his father worked as a hut keeper and mountain guide. By the age of three, he had summited Tuc de Molieres, a 3,000-meter peak.\n\nJornet has dominated the sport across every major format. He won UTMB four times (2008, 2009, 2011, 2022), setting a course record of 19:49:30 in 2022 to become the first person under 20 hours on the full course. He won Hardrock 100 four times (2015, 2016, 2017, 2022), Western States 100, and has claimed seven victories at Sierre-Zinal. He has also won multiple Skyrunner World Series titles and Sky Running World Championship gold medals.\n\nBeyond racing, Jornet holds fastest known times for the ascent and descent of the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc, and set the 24-hour uphill skiing record of 23,864 meters of vertical gain. He co-founded the trail running shoe brand NNormal and established the Kilian Jornet Foundation to promote mountain environment protection. He lives in Mandalen, Norway, with his partner Emelie Forsberg and their three children.
