THE STORY

Maude Mathys, born January 14, 1987, in Ollon, Switzerland, competed in ski mountaineering for the Swiss national team from 2012 to 2018 before transitioning fully to trail running. In ski mountaineering, she won the overall classifications at the Pierra Menta and Tour du Rutor in 2014 and accumulated 12 World Cup victories.

After turning to trail running, Mathys established herself as one of the most consistent performers in the discipline. She won the Golden Trail World Series in 2020 and 2021, set a new course record at the Sierre-Zinal, and is a five-time European champion in mountain running. Her road marathon best is 2:30:41, set in February 2020.

Mathys underwent Achilles tendon surgery in 2023 and returned to competition in 2024, winning the UTMB World Series opener at the Kobe 5th Season Trail and finishing on the podium at multiple international events.
