Murigi has won Sierre-Zinal, the Swiss mountain classic between the 4,000-meter peaks of the Valais, three times. Her first victory came in 2015 in 2:56:41, and she returned to win again in 2017 and 2018 while holding the world title.
Born on 7 July 1985, Murigi has raced for the Austrian-Kenyan run2gether team, the squad that has since produced a generation of Kenyan mountain running champions. She has continued to race internationally on the trail and skyrunning circuits, including a fourth-place finish at Sky Gran Canaria.
