The Leadville Trail 100 Run traverses the heart of the Colorado Rockies at extreme altitude, with the course never dropping below 9,200 feet. Known as the "Race Across the Sky," runners summit Hope Pass (12,600ft) twice on an out-and-back course through abandoned mining roads and alpine wilderness.

The race starts at 4 AM on 6th Street in downtown Leadville at 10,152ft. The shotgun start sends 800 runners into the darkness of the Colorado Rockies.

Turquoise Lake

The scenic trail around Turquoise Lake in the early morning hours. Runners circle the reservoir on smooth single-track trails as dawn breaks over the Sawatch Range.

Hope Pass Summit

The summit of Hope Pass at 12,600ft is the highest point on the course. Runners ascend through alpine meadows above treeline. The first crossing comes in the heat of the day.

Twin Lakes

The Twin Lakes turnaround is the out-and-back halfway point. Major crew access and a chance to eat, change shoes, and mentally reset for the return trip over Hope Pass.

6th Street Finish

The finish back on 6th Street in Leadville. Runners who finish under 25 hours earn a large belt buckle; under 30 hours earns a smaller buckle. The final stretch down the boulevard at altitude is unforgettable.
