Katie Schide is an American trail and ultra runner who has established herself as one of the most dominant forces in 100-mile racing. Born and raised in Gardiner, Maine, Schide came to running through the outdoors, working at mountain huts in the White Mountains of New Hampshire before pursuing academics. She holds a PhD in geology from ETH Zurich, where she studied landslides and erosion caused by earthquakes, completing her doctorate in 2022.\n\nSchide burst onto the international trail scene with her victory at the 2022 UTMB, and has since assembled one of the most impressive resumes in the sport. In 2024, she completed a historic treble of Canyons 100K, Western States 100, and UTMB in a single season, setting a new women's course record at UTMB with a time of 22:09:31. She followed that with a win at the 2025 Hardrock 100, breaking the women's counter-clockwise course record in 25:50:23.\n\nBased in the alpine village of Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage in southeastern France since 2019, Schide trains in the mountains of the Mercantour National Park. She is coached by Jason Koop of CTS and was named 2024 UltraRunner of the Year. A geologist by training, Schide brings a methodical, analytical approach to her racing that has made her one of the most consistent performers on the international trail circuit.
