The Marathon des Sables is an annual six-stage self-supported ultramarathon held each April in the Moroccan Sahara, covering approximately 250 kilometers over seven days. Competitors carry all personal food and equipment throughout the race, with organizers providing water and shared tents at nightly bivouacs. Established in 1986, the race has accumulated over 30,000 cumulative finishers and is considered one of the world's most demanding multi-stage ultra events.
