Lemi Berhanu Hayle is an Ethiopian marathon runner born on 13 September 1994. He won his first three marathon starts without a loss — Zürich in 2014 (2:10:40), Dubai in 2015 (2:05:28), and Warsaw in 2015 (2:07:57) — before finishing second at Dubai in January 2016 in a personal best of 2:04:33.
Hayle won the 2016 Boston Marathon in 2:12:45 and finished 13th at the Rio Olympics that summer. He resurfaced at the 2023 Tata Mumbai Marathon with a course record of 2:07:32. He won back-to-back editions of both the Prague Marathon (2024 in 2:08:44, 2025 in 2:05:14) and the Beijing Marathon (2024 and 2025), demonstrating sustained longevity on the international circuit.
He trains under coach Gemedu Dedefo with the Demadonna Athletics Promotions group in Ethiopia, a program that has developed several international marathon champions.
