Born 11 December 1973 in Alt St. Johann, Switzerland, Andrea Huser was one of the most prolific ultra trail racers of her generation. She began in mountain biking, winning the European Mountain Biking Championship in the marathon category in 2002 before transitioning to trail running.
Her trail career peaked between 2015 and 2017. She placed second at UTMB in both 2016 and 2017, won the Diagonale des Fous on Reunion Island in consecutive years (2016, 2017), and took victories at Lavaredo Ultra Trail, MIUT Madeira, and the Eiger Ultra Trail across the same period. In 2017, she was crowned Ultra-trail World Tour overall champion, the sport's most comprehensive season-long title at the time.
Huser died on 28 November 2020 at age 46 following a training accident above Saas-Fee in the Swiss Alps.
