The Québec Mega Trail, held annually since 2012 at Mont-Sainte-Anne near Beaupré, is Canada's largest trail running event. The flagship 135-kilometer race follows the St. Lawrence River shoreline from Baie-Saint-Paul through the Charlevoix and Côte-de-Beaupré regions, accumulating 6,000 meters of elevation gain. It serves as a Western States 100 qualifier and is part of the World Trail Majors series.

Baie-Saint-Paul Start
The race begins in Baie-Saint-Paul, a historic town at the confluence of the Gouffre River and the St. Lawrence River in the Charlevoix region. Runners depart along the river and begin climbing into the surrounding hills almost immediately.

Charlevoix Highlands
After leaving Baie-Saint-Paul, the course climbs into the Charlevoix UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, crossing rugged backcountry trails with significant elevation gain. This section accounts for a large share of the race's 6,000 meters of total vertical.

Petite-Rivière-Saint-François
The course passes through the small coastal village of Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, perched on the slopes above the St. Lawrence. The views across the river to the south shore stretch for dozens of kilometers on clear days.

Saint-Tite-des-Caps
Roughly two-thirds through the course, runners pass through the Côte-de-Beaupré municipality of Saint-Tite-des-Caps, a common mid-race checkpoint. The terrain here transitions from the steeper Charlevoix backcountry to the rolling forested ridges above the Beaupré coast.

Canyon Sainte-Anne
Near kilometer 115, the course descends toward the gorge of the Rivière Sainte-Anne-du-Nord. Canyon Sainte-Anne is a popular natural attraction featuring waterfalls and sheer rock walls that drop to the river below.

Mont-Sainte-Anne Finish
The race finishes at the base of Mont-Sainte-Anne ski resort in Beaupré, one of Quebec's largest ski mountains. The final approach descends from the upper trails of the resort to the finish line at its base.
