**Aberu Kebede Shewaye** is an Ethiopian road runner best known for her three wins at the Berlin Marathon. Born September 12, 1989 in Shewa, Ethiopia, she came through cross country before establishing herself on the world road circuit in her early twenties.
Her Berlin record is the centerpiece of her career. She won the Berlin Marathon in 2010 in 2:23:58, returned to win again in 2012 in 2:20:30 — her lifetime personal best — and completed a third Berlin victory in 2016 in 2:20:45. Few women have won the same World Marathon Major three times, and Kebede is the only Ethiopian woman to do so at Berlin.
Between Berlin wins she took the 2013 Tokyo Marathon title in 2:25:34, finishing six seconds off the course record in windy conditions. Her range extends down to the half marathon, where her 1:07:39 personal best is among the fastest ever run by an Ethiopian woman, and she took bronze at the 2009 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships.
