Val d'Aran by UTMB is a mountain trail running festival held each July in the Val d'Aran valley of the Spanish Pyrenees, serving as the UTMB World Series European Major since 2021. The flagship Torn dera Val d'Aran (VDA) covers 163 kilometers with 10,000 meters of elevation gain through high-altitude Pyrenean terrain. The event attracts runners from over 80 countries across five race distances.

Vielha Start/Finish
The race begins and ends in Vielha, the capital of the Aran Valley in the central Spanish Pyrenees. Runners depart at dusk and loop the entire valley before returning to the town center.

Montgarri Sanctuary
A remote 12th-century Romanesque sanctuary in the upper Aran Valley, accessible only on foot or by track. Runners pass through this isolated pilgrimage site surrounded by alpine meadows.

Colomèrs Lake Cirque
A glacial cirque containing more than 20 interconnected lakes at around 2,100 to 2,400 meters elevation. This section offers some of the most spectacular high-mountain scenery on the course.

Còth de Uèrri
A steep 1,300-meter ascent spanning 10 kilometers from the forested Toran Valley up to alpine meadows near the Liat lakes. The climb passes through abandoned zinc mines that date to the 19th century.

Mauberme Mining Zone
Runners traverse historic mining tunnels and paths at the foot of Mauberme peak (2,880m), one of the highest summits in the Aran Valley. This section highlights the industrial heritage of the Pyrenees.

Còth de Coriedo (Final Climb)
The last major ascent of the race, a punishing 700-meter climb over just 4 kilometers. It is widely regarded as the defining challenge of the VDA before the descent back to Vielha.
