Galen Rupp is one of the most accomplished American distance runners in history. A long-time training partner of Mo Farah under Alberto Salazar, Rupp won Olympic silver in the 10,000m at London 2012 and Olympic bronze in the marathon at Rio 2016 in just his second-ever marathon.
In 2017 he became the first American-born winner of the Chicago Marathon since 1982, winning in 2:09:20. He set his marathon personal best of 2:06:07 at the 2018 Prague Marathon. Rupp is a multiple-time U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials champion and has represented the United States at three Olympic Games.
He lives and trains in Portland, Oregon and has competed for Nike throughout his career.
