Łukasz Wróbel of Poland won the 2026 Legends Backyard Ultra by completing 114 yards over 114 hours at Heist-op-den-Berg, Belgium. The total covered roughly 764 kilometers, making the result one of the deepest backyard ultra performances of 2026 worldwide.

The race began on April 25 and stretched into the first week of May before resolution. As with all backyard ultra events, athletes ran a fixed loop every hour on the hour, with continuing competition until a single runner remained. Wróbel outlasted a deep European field over five days of continuous running.

The Legends Backyard Ultra is one of the qualifying races for Big's Backyard Ultra in Tennessee, the World Championship of the format. Wróbel's 114-yard performance places him among the qualifying targets for the 2027 international team competition.

The fifth edition drew a strong international field, with multiple national team runners from across Europe contesting the event. The race format puts a premium on consistency and sleep management rather than pure speed.

Belgium has built a strong backyard ultra culture in recent years, with Heist-op-den-Berg serving as the home of the Legends event. The race takes its name from the Backyard Belgium series organizers.

Wróbel's win extends a strong Polish presence in the backyard ultra discipline. The country has produced multiple top international finishers at Big's Backyard Ultra and continues to develop the format domestically.

The race format requires a 6.7-kilometer loop every hour. Athletes typically rest only the 10 to 20 minutes between loops, with cumulative fatigue eliminating most starters within the first 24 to 48 hours. Reaching the 100-yard threshold, a roughly four-day mark, marks an elite-level performance worldwide.

Big's Backyard Ultra in October 2027 will likely include Wróbel on the Polish team roster, with his 114-yard mark serving as a qualifying time. Backyard ultra format runs without finish times, only loops completed.

The 2027 Legends Backyard Ultra date has not yet been announced by race organizers. The event has historically been held in late April or early May at Heist-op-den-Berg, Belgium.
